Feedback

This my last day in Steria,

Feedback to steria

  1. There are no clear roles and responsibilities given to us. In TMIS, there are team leads, but nobody knows what the team leads are for, what are their roles and responsibilities.
  2. There is no clear time line conveyed to the team about the project. It was just recently the management gave us timeline of what we need to finish daily. However the time line given to us is very tight and impossible to achieve. So, the team transform from one extreme end (very relax, no time line) to another extreme end (an impossible time line).
  3. There is no performance appraisal and feedback system. So we don’t know whether we are performing well or not.
  4. I hope that the team to be more open to ideas. My experience in the project, most of my ideas were not listen to and dismissed. I feel that there are some people who always rejected people ideas but always push for his/her ideas to go ahead.

    Here are some examples

  • I propose to create our own data access layer framework and build the project entirely by using type data set instead of using codesmith. I propose this because I saw codesmith is very rigid, and nobody has experience in codesmith. If we are using dataset, we will not have problems like we face now (every time database change, we have to regenerate entire TMIS solution)
  • I propose that we sign off all FDS before we do development. Since no document is signed off, we are still accepting changes, and until now, there are still changes which ultimately affecting our development.
  • Some people are pushing to change architecture in the middle of development (from codesmith to NHibernate) without proper prior assessment about the impact of the changes. The changes turn out to be disaster, and we use codesmith back in the system.
  1. I think Steria should hire very good consultant and project manager who actually can provide solution to the client instead of just accepting what client want. In other words, Steria should have consultant who dare to say ‘no’ to unimportant but time consuming to develop request.

I think Steria should have a good architect who can oversee the entire architecture for the project as big as TMIS
